Job Title: Background Checks and Verification Officer (BGV) 

Location: Lekki phase 1 

Types: Full time    Salary: 150k - 200k

Job Summary

The Head of Background Check and Verification will oversee the comprehensive background verification process, ensuring all potential employees meet organizational standards and regulatory compliance. This role includes leading the verification team, conducting thorough checks, and ensuring the integrity of information. The ideal candidate will combine strategic leadership skills with hands-on expertise in background verification processes, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Background Check and Verification team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the background verification process.

• Oversee thorough verifications of employment history, education credentials, criminal records, and other relevant information.

• Ensure all checks are performed accurately and within established timelines.

• Maintain accurate, well-organized records of all verification processes and findings.

• Prepare and present detailed reports summarizing verification outcomes to HR and hiring managers.

• Ensure all background checks comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.

• Collaborate with HR, hiring managers, and external agencies to address specific verification needs and concerns.

• Research and implement tools and technology to streamline verification processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in background verification, HR, compliance, or a related field.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams and achieving targets.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity.

• Familiarity with background verification tools and software is a plus.
